The increasing level of electronical equipment on serial built vehicles makes automation much more easier. Götting KG has already automated several trucks, payloaders and forklift trucks (so called AGV). Now in a new project driving in convoy in a non- public area and on a construction site will soon be possible.
CeBIT 2009
We presented a convoy consisting of a smart followed by a driverless tractor that were connected via an electronic tow-bar
Convoy with electronic tow-bar
Example: Convoy
Example II: Convoy with smart and tractor
- One driver, many vehicles
- Fuel Reduction
This project was started in February 2009 and we are now already able to present a simplified system at the CeBIT exhibition 2009. Due to safety reasons the velocity allowed by the appropriate authority is limited to 6 km/h. By the end of 2009 real tests on HGVs travelling at a speed of 30 or 80 km/h shall be carried out.
